Access For All

The Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) is a complex and controversial piece of legislation. It affects Sheffield's 50,000 disabled people. So Inclusive Living Sheffield (a not-for profit organisation of disabled people) and Sheffield City Council have produced a booklet to help guide people through the potential minefield of legislation.

This booklet is only an introductory guide - so it's not intended as detailed legal advice. But we hope it's a useful starting point to help organisations support disabled people wishing to get equal access to services.

This booklet gives you:

  • general information on the rights of access to goods, facilities and services that disabled people have under the DDA;

  • examples of how organisations could be challenged under the DDA and the types of adjustments that should be made to accommodate disabled people; and

  • specific information on what Sheffield City Council and the NHS are doing to implement the DDA.

We hope you find this guide of use.
