Accessible HousingWe at ILS are constantly brought face-to-face with the barriers experienced by disabled people who live in unsuitable housing. People from across the country are desperately looking for adapted accommodation, some wanting to purchase, others wanting to rent, often working from very restricted budgets and without any information. There is no doubt that demand far exceeds supply. Disabled people become excluded from their communities and are unable to do the things most of us take for granted, however there is an organisation that is trying to bring accessible and adapted property into the mainstream. The Accessible Property Register (APR) is the first and as far as we are aware only organisation who solely advertise accessible or adapted property. Although not an estate agent this website based organisation promise FREE advertising to any private individual wishing to advertise their property for sale or rent, there is even the opportunity to place a property wanted advert. The only stipulation is that properties meet either their access criteria or have adaptations. APR are also happy to except adverts from any other means, for example estate agents, developers and housing associations. At present APR have strong links with Sheffield Homes 'Property Shop', advertising their accessible and adapted property on a weekly basis. They hope to encourage many other similar organisations to do the same. For more information and contact details we recommend that you visit APR's website at www.accessible-property.org.uk Why not contact us to discuss your requirements further? We'd be delighted to help.
