Inclusive Living Sheffield is a company limited by guarantee, with charitable aims. We are currently applying to register as a charity.

The company has a Board of Directors, all of whom are disabled people. The Directors are responsible for the way the company is run. This means that they must:

  • approve all company policies;
  • discuss, approve and monitor the company's activities;
  • recruit and appoint staff;
  • ensure that ILS funding is spent appropriately and accurate financial records are kept and audited.

For the first two years the Directors were also the only members of ILS, but from 1st November 2005 membership is open to potential full and associate members.

Membership will be free for individuals and organisations until 1st November 2008 and this will then be reviewed.

All potential members will be asked to agree that they support ILS aims and objectives and will try to promote:

  • A social approach to disability
  • Social inclusion
  • An influential voice for disabled people

Members will have the following rights:

Full members will have voting rights at the Inclusive Living Sheffield Annual General Meeting. This will include the right to vote for Directors.

Full members will be invited to join a database of disabled people willing to take part in consultation about local and national policies.

Full members will be offered volunteering opportunities.

All members will receive a free newsletter about disability issues in Sheffield .

All members will be invited to attend consultation events.
