Two Executive Directors :

  • We have now appointed two Executive Directors, Brendan Kitchen and Jacquie Stubbs, who will job share this post. Brendan has already started, and Jacquie will join us from 23 January. Both have wide experience of working in the community/voluntary sector in Sheffield . Brendan has worked with ILS previously, most recently facilitating an advocacy event in Norfolk Park . Jacquie was one of the driving forces in the Disabled Peoples Forum, which many people may remember occupied 116 The Wicker up until December 2004.

Registering as a Charity :

  • ILS has almost completed the process of registering as a charity. Amongst other advantages, being a registered charity will allow us to access funding streams which were previously closed to us.

Two Student Social Worker Placements :

  • ILS will facilitate two student social worker placements in Spring 2006. The students will also work with the Black Community Forum, also based in The Wicker. We are very excited about this, and are looking to create projects that will truly benefit everyone involved.

ILS Has Commissioned Two DVDs :

  • ILS has commissioned two DVDs; “Employment and Disabled People”; and “Provision of Goods and Services and Disabled People”. We hope to have an official ‘screening' of these DVDs later this year, and will post any news about this on the website. We plan to use these DVDs as part of the Disability Equality Training we offer. We have already had some interest from Sheffield City Council; Sheffield Hallam University ; and Sheffield Teaching Hospitals Trust .

Funding News :
